Dr. Michael J. Gordon, FAAOS, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University in 1992 and obtained his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1998. He completed his residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and subsequently completed a 12 month Orthopedic Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Disease in the New York University Medical Center.
He specializes in the treatment of the upper extremity. From the fingertip to the shoulder, he is well versed in the management of arthritis, trauma, and other problems of the upper limbs. He treats compression neuropathies such as cubital and carpal tunnel syndrome. He also performs arthroscopy of the joints of the upper extremity and is trained in the latest technique for treating fractures of the shoulder, arm, forearm, wrist, and hand.
A large portion of Dr. Gordon’s patients are children, and Dr. Gordon and his staff enjoy caring for Sarasota’s pediatric population. Dr. Gordon treats upper extremity and general pediatric orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Gordon also has a background in medical research. He has spoken at national orthopedic surgery meetings and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has also received the Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. Dr. Gordon is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Sarasota County Medical Society.
